Veritas est id quod cum eis rebus quae sint, seu cum rerum natura, congruit, et quod falsitati opponitur. Huius rei definitiones varias theologi mathematicique ex antiquitate praebuerunt. Notio antiqua maioris momenti ab Aristotele concepta est: "Dicere quod est non esse, vel quod non est esse, falsum; sed quod est esse, et quod non est non esse, verum est."[1] Sed definitio secundum Thomam Aquinam, ipso hanc Isaac Iudaeo (Israëlita) imputante, est: "Veritas est adaequatio rei et intellectus."[2]
