Plutoni est orbita eccentrica, quae magis inclinata ad lineam eclipticam quam eae planetarum est. Pars suae orbitae propior Soli est Neptuni orbita.

Multis satellitibus vel lunis in systemate solari nostro minor, tamen inter planetulas hodie notos secundum magnitudine locum tenet.

Speculatrum spatiale Novi Horizontes (Anglice New Horizons) gravitationale auxilio fruitum est Iovem pridie Kalendas Martias anni 2007 supervolans ut necessaria velocitas ad remotissimum Plutonem mense Iulio 2015 attingendum obtineatur. Plutonis imagines huius paginae a Novis Horizontibus a die 28 Maii usque ad diem 3 Iunii 2015 captae sunt.
